Hand-Quilted Kantha Pure Silk Scarf

 
This unisex, gorgeous silk scarf has been made by quilting two pieces of vintage, printed silk sarees. I avoid using small sections of sarees to give the scarves listed in my longevity and uniformity. Those two pieces are then embroidered using straight stitches called sujani kantha. This is a fully reversible silk scarf or stole as both sides have different printed sarees.


As this scarf has been made using vintage printed silk sarees, minor imperfections might exist and make each one unique.

Size = 19 x 96 inch

This scarf will arrive at home freshly dry cleaned, free from odors.

Interesting information:
-Sujani Kantha or straight Kantha used for quilted or making scarves such as the ones in this listing are created using straight Kantha stitches. It is a relatively simple stitch but due to the number of stitches needed to impart longevity to vintage saree fabric quite time-consuming to produce one scarf.
-There are several sub-styles within the Kantha form of embroidery. The most difficult, time-consuming, and complex are nakshi Kantha motifs as in these highly intricate tribal, wildlife, and mythological motifs are created using very small stitches. I have some nakshi Kantha embroidered scarves listed separately in my shop.
